On the eye, the wine displays an attractive light-gold hue delicately underpinned by a very fine effervescence.
On the nose, this Blanc de Blancs expresses itself with elegance and discretion. It reveals delicate aromas of white flowers nicely set off by pleasing notes of kumquat.
On the palate, the expression is that of the “great terroirs” of Chardonnay. On entry to the palate, the wine smacks of the nobility of the Avize, Oger and Villers-Marmery crus and the grapes from a number of other plots owned by Deutz or partner growers, some of whom have been working with Deutz for decades. After a forthright entry to the palate, the wine shows a lovely freshness and an elegant vibrancy and develps tasty aromas of citrus fruit and white flowers, underpinned by a lovely minerality.
Like an open and exciting invitation to return to Life, this wine, still in its spring, gently wakens the taste buds with a soft caress. Its promise is twofold: instant enchantment and potential for ageing, thanks to which the wine’s lovely structure will reveal a fascinating aromatic complexity.
Made exclusively from the Chardonnay variety from Avize (43%), Oger (40%), Chouilly (12%) and Villers-Marmery (5%).
This fine wine is well suited to aperitif drinking, but also makes the perfect partner for fish such as a grilled sea bass of john dory, a tartare of sea scallops, roasted langoustines or even a ceviche of sea bream.
It will also delight the gastronome when paired, over the years with dishes of greater and greater complexity and flavours.
